Wednesday's Big Idea: Our Friends in the Field

There is never any lack of things to pray for, but today as Pastor Rick was taking a needed and well-deserved break, we turned our attention to the many families that are working abroad: The Delzers, Meshells, Stanleys, Haubacks (sp?!) and Jerrad's friend Luke, serving in Peru - as well as those heading out: Stoddards, Kangases (and Caety P!)

We started off with Psalm 19 and Monty was quick to point out that we were praying for revival (rest), wisdom and joy for all of our traveling companions. What a comfort it is that we can turn to God's word and receive all these things. Here are the key lines:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.

Prayer is an effective tool both for interceding for our brothers and sisters abroad (who need it greatly) as well as strengthening the bonds we have with them. We live together in unity with them even as we live physically apart!
